Happy Weekend!

Hope you all are doing awesome! The weather here in TX is finally cooling down (While I'm sure you all in the southern hemisphere are starting to feel the heat pick up!) Either way, this time of year offers the best weather to go out and shoot without being cold or hot because the weather is just right!

My wife and I went out on a Sunday evening to a restaurant we haven't seen before, we loved the decor and atmosphere of it. I saw how they labeled the various areas and was interested. While this image may appear simple, there are always things to remember when shooting symmetrical subjects. Make sure you are at the same height (not shooting upward on downward) and also not on an angle. By following those two steps, your subject will not appear distorted. When seeking subjects such as this, make sure there is something that grabs your attentions, for me, it was the red paint on the stone wall followed by the unique choice in text. On another note, the food was DELICIOUS. It's called 'El Monumento' in Georgetown Texas.

Do you ever see patterns that just look incredible, or perhaps the textures? Sometimes editing is needed to bring these images to life, so when you do shoot something of that sort, be sure to adjust contrast and saturation to make it look like the way it appeared to you. That being said, know that when you take a picture and it does NOT look the way you intended, it's NOT your fault, so take your picture, and edit it. Editing is not a deadly sin as some people believe. Everyone edits...and it's completely OKAY. This image here was in Nikko Japan. It was of a roof of one of the temples. The discoloration, texture and patterns were amazing. Way different than anything I have seen state-side.

I wanted to share this image from my good friend Jerimy. He shot the Elgin Cathedral with his cellphone! This is more evidence that your perspective, lighting and subject are more important than the lens or camera you choose to use. He read through some of my guides on composure and produced some amazing work! So if your going somewhere, a once in a lifetime experience, photograph it!

So we covered a variety of items today. I wanted to also encourage everyone to encourage other photographers! I have witnessed in the past, that one person gets a nice camera and they instantly start degrading other's work or their equipment. This is ugly. Please do not do that. Help each other, teach other skills. We all will have a very different way of shooting. Let your work speak for itself. If someone asks questions, give them answers. If you disagree with something they say or do, let it go. We are all human and learn differently. Love and encourage each other! Now go out and share your amazing work!!
